Payton, Foster and Branch all running to retain Cedartown Commission seats
Cedartown’s municipal election will feature at least the incumbents in the 2021 municipal elections, with all three incumbents getting their names on the ballot this week.
Commissioners Jessica Brewster Payton and Matt Foster turned in their paperwork and fees to get on the ballot on Wednesday, and Branch joined them today to get on the ballot for the November 2 vote.

Foster, seeking a third term on the commission, is joined by Payton and Branch who are both seeking their second terms in office with this year’s vote.
The only competitive race so far in 2021 comes in Rockmart’s Ward 1 where Joe Henderson seeks to keep his City Council seat against challenger Will Dover. Rockmart will also be voting on referendums on alcohol sales as well.
Aragon still has an open seat to qualify for in a special election being held to fill the seat being vacated at month’s end by Buddy Tanner. Daniel Johnson’s term was coming to a close on the seat he took up last year without opposition and he qualified to retain his place on the Aragon City Council in November. Amy Causey is also up for election this year and has not yet qualified.
The Board of Elections is open until 5 p.m., and will be taking qualifications again on Friday until the close of business.
