New eateries and businesses have been popping up all over Rockmart over the past years, and two more are nearing completion for a spring opening, while others are still in the midst of construction through the winter months.
Here’s a rundown of where progress stands for a few of the projects underway along the Nathan Dean Parkway corridor:
Dunkin Donuts work down to final touches

Those who have been patiently waiting for two of these projects to wrap up will be glad to hear one of them is expected to open in March – should there not be any unexpected delays.
Construction is nearly done for Dunkin Donuts, which began building in last August with site preparation completed by the landowners. Building work began during the fall, and is just about wrapped up as the final touches are being completed on interior and exterior work.
Officials from the City of Rockmart noted following last week’s council meeting that Dunkin is looking for a mid-to-late March opening date.
Longhorn Steakhouse almost ready for dinner

The other new establishment set to open this spring on the corner of Goodyear Avenue and Nathan Dean Parkway is Longhorn Steakhouse, which announced at the same time as Dunkin Donuts when seeking permission to build on the site previously occupied by homes in early 2024.
Work began on the building at the same time as their neighbor, but the building is bigger and required additional work to prepare for making full meals instead of just tasty treats and good coffee.
Longhorn Steakhouse progress is also wrapping up, and officials noted they are looking at an April opening for customers.
Culver’s building goes up

Another food spot announced last year is finally in the process of putting their building up as well. Contractors in the fall began site preparation work, and as the year wrapped up and January got underway a major push toward putting up the building for Culver’s got underway.
The Wisconsin-based chain offering American-style food and frozen custard will likely open in late spring based on the current progress of construction on the site. They join an already busy area around the Walmart shopping center.
There wasn’t yet a timetable shared from city officials on when they plan to open their doors, but likely later this spring.
Valvoline still digging

Site preparation work was still ongoing for a new oil and lube center going up across from Chick-fil-A of Rockmart.
Workers were still installing drainage and digging out an area for workers to change oil when the new Valvoline opens later this year. Weather during the winter months has somewhat slowed their progress, but as things dry out this spring they should be able to begin work on the building and have it completed by summer.
