BRIDGE REMAINS OUT: Construction on North Main span speeding along

Don’t expect opening until end of next month

Well, the workers are getting there on a bridge project in Cedartown.

The replacement of the span over a branch of Cedar Creek remains underway as much of the work to replace the old bridge continues, but construction workers are getting closer to the finish line by the day.

Whether they make the April 15 deadline is still so far weather permitting, but they should based on recent estimates given to city officials from contractors.

Crews have completed much of the work on the span – decking is done, concrete is dry on the footings and just about all that is left to be done is connecting everything back up with a new coating of asphalt on each side.

The final day to finish the project is April 15, but it looks like they’ll come in just a day under that and open back up to traffic on April 14. That’s assuming the forecast stays clear for workers to complete the rest of the road bed and repaving work around Girard Avenue and the other side of the bridge.

Look for more information about the bridge re-opening to traffic as it becomes available.
