GDOT contractors promised that a bridge over a branch of Cedar Creek would be done in 90 days when the work began back in January.
They’re definitely on track to get that done amid a stretch of good weather in February and no traffic in the way with a deck already in place to begin building up the road surface and railings.
A project several years in the making that was supposed to start in 2024 stretched into the start of this year due to delays in moving utilities around temporarily over the span, but once cranes were brought in and the old bridge knocked out of the way it has been a winter where full speed ahead for local construction projects like the bridge rebuild.

Workers took a break on the project over the weekend, leaving behind the next steps ahead as decking is set up and ready to connect to the roadway. Workers then will need to add railings and sidewalks across the span, level everything out and replace asphalt on North Main damaged by the heavy equipment sitting on it for the whole of the project.
This latest bridge project is one of several replacements underway or completed in recent years. A new bridge on Booger Hollow Road opened in recent years, and a new span over branches of Euharlee Creek on Highway 101 near the intersection with Nathan Dean Parkway was opened last year.
Workers are still busy replacing a Highway 27 North bridge over Lake Creek, currently blocking off the southbound lanes while using the northbound bridge to handle traffic.
