Update:

Rockmart Police investigators and the Polk County Coroner’s Office reported that a man was found dead inside of a Rockmart motel room this afternoon.

Police and the Coroner’s Office were called out to a room at The Western Inn in Rockmart on Monday afternoon, January 2, 2023 when the body of a man was discovered.

Police are able to report that the death was self-inflicted. No additional details about the incident are immediately available.

His name is not yet being released pending full notification of his next of kin.

Investigators did note the man has been a resident of the motel for some time.
