Annual Rockmart PD’s Christmas is for Kids program going great, donations ready for parents on Dec. 18

The Rockmart Police Department will have a quick turnaround of donated toys to go out to families in the coming days ahead of Christmas as the days of the calendar are quickly falling away.

The annual police department’s Christmas is for Kids program is gathering up their donations and have just four days after the deadline to turn in items is completed on Dec. 14 before they are ready to give them out this year.

Participating organizations include Now and Then of Rockmart (who took up toys when Santa was in town in late November,) organizations like the Polk County Rotary Club, the Rockmart Kiwanis Club, the Polk Retired Educators Association, and individuals who are giving back this holiday season to ensure that children have a happy holiday. The department’s key partner and largest donor of toys is Rome’s Toys for Tots program.

Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner said that 80 children from 39 different families in Polk County will get presents on Christmas thanks to the program.

The application process for 2020 is closed, and parents will be able to come pick up their toys that will be already pre-sorted and packaged for pickup on December 18.

He said he was thankful for all those who have helped and given toys to children this year during this holiday season, and encourages those who wished to make donations to instead consider giving to Crossview Community Church as an option. You can do so at paypal.me/crossview.
