The State of Georgia is giving the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Regional Airport a new round of funding for improvements to infrastructure and capacity at the facility in western Paulding County.
State Senator Jason Anavitarte announced in a press release on Monday that the state is funding a new round of projects at the airport to the tune of $1 million to construct a new access roadway to the airport.
Local matching dollars of $333,333 are also being contributed to the roadway project, bringing the total to around $1.3 million for the overall cost.
“This funding will be transformative for the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Regional Airport, enhancing accessibility and supporting our community’s growth,” said Sen. Anavitarte in Monday’s release. “I want to sincerely thank Governor Kemp, the Georgia Department of Transportation, and Commissioner McMurray for their unwavering commitment to improving our transportation infrastructure. Their support has been instrumental in making this project a reality for the 31st Senate District.”
State funding coming through for the project was part of a $1.5 billion infrastructure package that was amended into the FY 2024 budget by state legislatures and Gov. Brian Kemp earlier this year.
The goal for constructing the new road at the airport is to help increase efficient access to the airport, which among other uses is home to the Chattahoochee Tech Aviation Training Academy.
