Expect to be running around a lot if you want to be able to check out everything going on in Polk County over the day on Saturday.
Kicking off the morning is the Keep Polk Beautiful and Fenley TV Electronics Recycling Day, being held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 549 1/2 West Ave., Cedartown. The recycling event will be taking the following items: old or broken computers, telephones, monitors, pagers, CD-Rom units, cable receivers, circuit boards, stereo equipment, fax machines, copiers, VCR players, typewriters, cell phones, printers, calculators, modems, answering machines, speakers, TVs, keyboards, cameras, video game systems, floppy drives, scrap metals, microwaves, appliances, and other circuit board-based items.
This afternoon, stick around downtown Cedartown to take part in the grand opening ceremony at the Doug Sanders Golf Museum, which will also feature a memorial service for the hometown legend who was known as “The Peacock of the Fairways.” The event begins at 1 p.m., and a reception will follow.
Saturday will also give opportunity to tour both the Doug Sanders Golf Museum and the Cedartown Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia free of charge to celebrate the opening day of the new facility.
From 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rockmart Art Gallery, there’s a chance to stop by and meet a local artist during the RCAC’s reception for the Susan Gore Gardner – 40 Years of Art show that remains underway through October 15. The gallery is open to the public prior from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find great and interesting portraits of Prince, Tom Petty, Tony Sims, Rhonda Vincent and others along with some of Gardner’s other work from the past four decades on display.
The doors open at 8 p.m. for The West Cinema’s upcoming concert at the historic theater, featuring Fred Trout with RT5 and Tabby Kirby on stage for the evening. Tickets remain on sale at thewestcinema.com for those interested in taking part.
