UPDATE: Haralson Man accused in shooting captured in Bremen on Wednesday night

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office updated their report on the arrest of a Tallapoosa man on Wednesday evening charged in a shooting incident from earlier in the morning on July 5.

According to newly-released information from the HSCO, William Lee Hodges, 40, was arrested at Higgins Hospital in Bremen after they received independent information that he was located back in Haralson County.

The Sheriff’s Office’s Crime Suppression Unit had received a tip about his whereabouts in Paulding County, but those reports turned out to be false and independent intelligence about where he was located was found out.

He was arrested without incident at the hospital. An HSCO spokesperson said there was no information as to why Hodges was in the parking lot at the hospital on Wednesday night.

A Tallapoosa man is behind bars this morning after he was captured by law enforcement in Paulding County on Wednesday night.

William Lee Hodges, 40, was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after he was accused of shooting another man in the foot during an altercation in Haralson County in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 5.

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office learned that Hodges was the perpetrator during an interview of the victim in the hospital in Bremen on Wednesday morning, and began their search for their lone suspect. Hodges was given until 3 p.m. to turn himself into authorities, but never showed up at the Haralson County Jail for booking.

Instead, the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office declared him a wanted man at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Less than six hours later, he’d be in custody.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Haralson County Crime Suppression Unit tracked Hodges down in Paulding County and took him into custody around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

He was immediately transported back to Haralson County and booked into the jail without any further incident.

Bond has already been denied for Hodges, who at this time is only facing the single aggravated assault charge.
