Not much to report other than I took the afternoon off, and woke up late to find that the skies were gloomy and ready to let loose another round of rain.
(Ugh. Please, no more.)
Some good news though: with the help of new sponsors to announce and add to the site in the coming days, I was finally able to gain significant upgrades to my computing power, which helps in a lot of different avenues including one big important one: video editing.
Wednesday’s “first” video for the site showed me just how badly I needed to use a little cash on hand to upgrade my processing power. You wouldn’t believe how much that makes a difference too.
Though I usually am one to always say “shop local,” I had a hard time finding what I needed here in Polk County and so Jess and I schlepped down to Atlanta to a place called Peachtree Computing, where for an extremely good deal I was able to invest in a good system with money left over to stop by my favorite store in the world, Micro Center.
Now I have a lean, mean video editing machine at my disposal. Hopefully that turns into valuable results. We’ll see this evening (knocking on wood the weather changes) when Cedartown and Rockmart softball play. Should be fun!
Back to what you came here for in the first place: the news.
In the News
First, a quick note to encourage friend of Polk.Today Kevin King on his podcasting efforts. Great job sir! Here’s his first episode with Matt Foster. (There’s a pilot too available on the page.)
Tonight and Saturday might be movie nights, but so much more is coming soon to West Cinema to be able to do besides sit down and watch a feature. For instance, imagine gaming on one of the theater screens? You don’t have to anymore:
Something to report from our neighbors southward in Haralson County: Magistrate Court Judge Brandon Heath turned in his resignation to Governor Brian Kemp, according to WLBB radio’s reporting. No reason why was given.
Heath had just won his seat on the bench back in June in the primaries and would have begun his new term in January.
More to come for the weekend edition!
Today’s forecast
Softball today? A definite possibility based on the forecast, as I said before.
The National Weather Service is calling for Showers and thunderstorms for the day, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. The forecast calls for much of the same through the evening and overnight hours, with a low down to 71. Patchy fog for the early morning hours as well.
