Investigators last Friday took a man into custody on outstanding warrants for a child molestation complaint from November 2023, according to a release from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office provided this morning.

Michael David Moore, 53, of a Bremen address, was charged by the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office on a count of child molestation and a count of aggravated sexual battery. He remains in custody at the Haralson County Jail with bond denied on the pair of charges.

Per the release, the initial complaint came from the parents of the juvenile in November 2023 who came to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, where they reported that the juvenile had received “inappropriate messages through text and Facebook messenger from a 53-year-old male.”

Investigators referred the juvenile to theStephanie V. Blank Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where additional details about the incident were disclosed and accused Moore, their neighbor, for the molestation. An additional forensic interview was held at the Carroll County Child Advocacy Center in Carrollton.

The case remains under investigation and additional charges are possible as Investigator Brent Duggins continues to dig into the incident. His warrants came after interviews with the Nurse Practitioner at CHOA and others who were involved in the case.

“These cases are hard to read about, they make us sick because children should be protected,” Sheriff Stacy Williams said in the release. “In 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline received 36.2 million reports of suspected child sexual exploitation online. Those numbers are very scary for parents. If you allow your teen or pre-teen to have access to technology, we cannot stress enough the importance of having software to help you know who and what is reaching out to them, and where they are from. Because the monster exploiting them could very well live right next door.”
