Mr. Emery Eugene “Gene” Griffith, age 67, of Tallapoosa, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on April 15. 2025.

He was born November 13, 1957 in Anniston, AL to the late Floyd Eugene Griffith and Yvonne Shaddix Griffith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Griffith.

Gene retired from the City of Tallapoosa in 2021 with 30 years of service in the Public Works Department. He truly enjoyed his time with the City and his fellow workers to which he was known as “Cuz.”

Even throughout his battle with cancer he continued to work part time with the City and enjoy all things outdoors, especially his time with his grandson and best friend, Travis. Travis became his reason to keep on, keeping on. They had a very special bond and made many special memories together.

One of Gene’s favorite places to be was at deer camp, sitting by the fire with friends. He was not only a special Paw-Paw, but also a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend; our mighty warrior who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gina Brown Griffith, of Tallapoosa; daughter, Nicole Griffith, of LaGrange, GA; stepsons and their spouses, Joshua and Callie Hulsey, of Bremen, GA and Jonathan Hulsey and Anna Ruff, of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Aubrey Hulsey, Blakley Hulsey, Travis Hulsey, Gabrielle Overbay, Tristen Griffith, and Corbin Griffith; four great grandchildren; brother, Lynn Griffith, of Anniston, AL; brothers in law, Greg and Sally Brown, of Douglasville, GA, Randall Brown, of Tallapoosa, and Wade and Debbie Brown, of Bremen; and two special aunts, Anne and Bill Gooszen, of Crestview, FL and Ruthe and Michael Perdue, of Lithia Springs, GA.

In keeping with his wishes, Gene will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 6:00PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Minister John Latimer officiating.

For those that cannot attend, the service will be streamed on the Miller Funeral Home website. The family will receive friends in the chapel Thursday beginning at 4:00PM.
