A Bremen man was booked into the Haralson County Jail today on charges that he took financial advantage of an elder, according to a release from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon.
Kenneth Wayne Kimball, 62, remains in custody on a single count of exploitation of an elder person, six counts of identity theft fraud when using/possessing identifying info concerning a person and four counts of financial transaction card fraud, and a single charge of felony charges.
He is being held without bond set as of this posting.
Kimball is alleged by HCSO Sgt. Jason Bowman who took over the investigation to have taken funds from an elderly resident of Haralson County when it was first reported back in September 2023. Per the release, the family was able to provide records of finances and other issues to “show a pattern of behavior from the offender.”
Per the release, Kimball is accused of opening credit cards and using them to make purchases without any knowledge of the victim, or their power of attorney.
Sheriff Stacy Williams noted the following in the release this afternoon:
“The family’s willingness to carefully collect so much documentation is the real difference in this case,” Williams said. “I appreciate the effort of Sgt. Bowman in this case, and I commend the family for being so proactive and protective of their loved one. Crimes against the elderly are a bane to our society. Those who prey on our seniors’ citizens must be held accountable for their actions.”
