CHANGELOG: Myrick Multimedia 2.0.8.7

Every couple of weeks, we get a bit closer out of our 2.0 beta phase and into a stable 2.1 version of the site. This version focused on some bugs found in games, in the Today Sports Wire front update, and a couple of other design shifts.

Design update

Today Sports Wire finally got a full front update to match the rest of the sites. Here’s a list of the boxes updated:

• TSW Front Top (gradient version)
• Football updated to gradient box design
• Softball updated to a version of the gradient box design with opposite colors
• Cross Country lost its rounded corners design, went solid black.
• Cheer lost its rounded corners and background, went solid red.
• Created: Teams Combined (no background color)
• Created: Pro, College, Ad 3 col box (no background color – for now; this box might get a further update as we go along.)
• Removed: Pro Sports Box
• Removed: College Sports Box

Kevin the Editor got a brief update. as well. The Front Box updated to match the rest of the sites – minus gradient box design, since gray is used for essays.

Login page redesign – all of the pages from Myrick Multimedia through Today Sports Wire also received a redesign of the sports pages.

Bug fixes

Bug fix: Ad inserts for the All Ads Mobile repaired, providing more impressions per post depending on length (4th paragraph, 12th, 20th and 32nd.)

Bug fix: SevenUp was displaying six guesses instead of seven as required. Quick code fix and change to the CSS allowed for an update to the 1.1 version of the game, which should now be stable for the time being. This was possibly the easiest bug fix of the games yet.

Bug fix turned into Reconfigured/upgraded plugin: Word Search was redone to accommodate unlimited plays, leaderboard for subscribers saving scores, redesign of the game board, changing word list. (Essentially: it works like Word Search should now.)

Still to do

The Scoreboard Boxes that were previously available on TSW’s front page had to be removed while working on a redesign of how that system distributes scoreboards. That will probably be required for topline as well. I’ll be working on those particular systems in the coming days, which will probably push us to the 2.0.8.9 update in the coming weeks.

I began working on the Scoreboard box bug fix for how the scoreboards are supposed to update, but so far haven’t had success going back and forth with ChatGPT. It took an act of congress to get it to do what I wanted for the Word Search game… still remains hit or miss, based entirely on prompting and what you feed it.

Minor feature updates in the coming 2.0.8.8-9 update (will probably just calling it 2.0.8.9 unless something drastic happens in the coming days…) will include an update to SevenUp to include a “who’s fastest solving” leaderboard for subscribers, a Sudoku leaderboard for fastest time solved for subscribers.

Games will also be getting some ads on their specific pages with upcoming design updates. Stay tuned.

I hope to hit 2.0.9 by November, and 2.1 by the beginning of January at this point with a roadmap of merging the games page into a single subdomain and add in some functionality and new games, break real estate and jobs off on their own subdomains, and finish off changes I’d like to make to the design of the events and classifieds add-ons.

Additional roadmap items to work on:

• Member pages
• Streamlining the design of events and classified single listings, and user pages for adding events and classifieds.
• Figuring out what happened to my checkout page and why it stopped having the credit/debit card directly on the page instead of going to paypal, like I thought it was supposed to do…
• Redoing the front page for Myrick Multimedia to match the gradient design
• Redoing the front page for Myrick Multimedia Advertising’s front page for the individual wordpress install it includes, matching the header style, etc.
• Reworking the Pickems System and User Interface for the Playoffs
