CHANGELOG: Myrick Multimedia 2.0.8.3

This is ultimately a brief Changelog update for the latest edition of Myrick Multimedia’s “beta mode” continues through mid-August without much time to work on sitewide changes and/or fixes. It’ll probably remain this way through until mid-September, when things begin to find their natural flow again with the start of fall sports.

For now, here’s a couple of brief items I’ve had to tackle.

Bug fix: lock/unlock mechanism for Football Pick’em Game was broken, requiring a rewrite of that system with a manual lock-unlock now available.

Design fixes: Updated the Kevin the Editor, National, World and Georgia blocks on Polk Today to fix design issues with the Network Posts shortcode used to display content links between sites. Those blocks will similarly be updated for Paulding and Haralson Today by the time I get around to listing out the 2.0.8.4 updates (hopefully) later this month. Polk Today’s Pets of the Week had an error in the block not including links via either image or title, and were updated to fix that issue.

Content Shift: Games were moved onto Myrickmultimedia.com proper for Sudoku, Word Search and SevenUp due to an issue I found with SevenUp not wanting to fully work correctly on Polk Today in mobile mode. As I continue to add games to the system in the future (I do have plans for that too, just not under immediate development) it makes sense to me to A) consolidate games onto a single install for purposes of sharing and B) have only that site share games.

Thus, I’ll be adding games.myrickmultimedia.com in the coming days alongside jobs.myrickmultimedia.com and realestate.myrickmultimedia.com for our forthcoming expansion of those two categories of classified products that will be exclusively available on those sites by themselves and outside of the regular Monthly+ subscription tiers.

Under development: I’m working with ChatGPT after it’s update to 5 to create a Network Query Loop block that works on multisite to make native design possible within WordPress’ native Gutenberg editor. So far, I’ve not had much luck getting that to play nice. Still working on it, but fundamentally it would have the same options available for the shortcode, but with expanded opportunities to customize the design for each in calling a post or page query for content sharing.

Note: 2.0.8.1 and 2.0.8.2 were internal-only fixes on my part, and don’t require specific documentation. -KtE
