Changelog: Myrick Multimedia 2.0.1

A couple of weeks ago, I launched the new system of the combined Myrick Multimedia sites. Sadly and without any malice on my part, several bugs were introduced into the system that I have yet to be able to completely figure out and have wrecked havoc initially on the site, and for users who enjoy content from several of the Myrick Multimedia sites.

In an effort to keep up with what I’ve made changes to and fixes, I’m going to compile these “Changelog” posts on the site (more for my own memory than for any announcement purposes.) Meanwhile, here’s the first of the changelog items – not including much of the work already attempted to fix the subscriber issues, but some brief notes.

Myrick Multimedia 2.0 – Beta Launched on April 17, 2025

Bugs so far:

Login issue on using a different domain than the main domain for users. Unsuccessful attempts were made so far to repair the issue. Contact made with subscription service (Paid Memberships Pro) support, but alas their solutions didn’t prove fruitful. The other plugin potentially at issue is Domain Mapping System Pro. Their plugin author has been sought twice for support, and never responded.

Advanced Ads Pro’s Ad Server function isn’t properly pushing ads to the new system as intended, seems to be caused by upgrades they made to the plugin code base that wasn’t completely clean. Attempted to remove code from both Advanced Ads Pro installs (ad server module, main.class.php edit) but that proved to do nothing of significance.

Changes made so far:

• Updated some boxes to fix broken links
• Fixed broken Haralson Today header link that was causing a 404 error
• Updated license for Advanced Ads Pro, moved online sales to separate WordPress install. Left to complete: correct ad server linking (broken admin-ajax calls aren’t allowing display of ads through server. Solution: manual workaround, utilize system for ad sales, manually add the advertisements into Myrick Multimedia’s duplicate placements currently available.)
• Fixed Auto Draft issue caused by subscriber page tabs including Add Event and Add Listing, but both broken. Solution: Removed those tabs, replaced with a “management” drop down box. Still to do: solid links for add events and add classifieds for desktop.
• Added Bunny.net CDN (post launch) to decrease server load, decrease site load time for users and subscribers. Utilizing plugin.
• Removed WooCommerce from Main Site
• Removed W3 Total Cache from Main Site
• Removed WP Optimize from Main Site
• Added Enable CORS plugin to Main Site + Ads Server Site (did not resolve admin-ajax issue)
• Removed Wordfence from Main Site
• Removed WP Fastest Cache from Main Site (interfered with Domain Mapping System Pro)

To Do:

• Some boxes appear to have broken category structure to showcase items on front pages, or don’t have links to stories available.
• Add Category page structure to provide additional advertising spots & content linking of archived material
• Add a search box to each front page
• Add Subscriber Video Tab to Monthly+ Membership Account Tabs
• Add Boxes: Technology, World to Today News Wire.
• Fix domain linking for alias logins (so content appears to subscribers when linking from social media or direct access correctly.) Possible Solution: Could be extra .htaccess files that need to be removed, requires site maintenance mode overnight for testing purposes. (Cookiepath solutions proposed so far hasn’t worked; enabling CORS plugin hasn’t resolved issue.)
• Fix admin-ajax issue. Solution: Still searching on that one. (Could be related to .htaccess issue?)
• Clean Main Site database for transients, old plugin structure that needs removal
