What a big game for the Rockmart Lady Jackets, who are now headed to the state playoffs after a big Saturday win over Ringgold to get themselves into the race for a state title with a big afternoon on offense for the home team.
The 12-8 victory over the Ringgold Lady Tigers came with three homers on the day by Gracey, Zori and Emma Hindmon – then a grand slam by Emma to propel the Lady Jackets onward to victory.
Here is a video shared on Facebook from RHS of Emma Hindmon’s big grand slam homer:
The Lady Jackets head to Oconee County on Wednesday as the third seed team out of 6-AAA this year to get themselves toward Columbus and the state tournament. They’ll have a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. against the Lady Warriors in Watkinsville.
Rockmart faces an Oconee squad that is 9-11 overall and 7-3 in Region 8-AAA play, finishing second in the region. They finished three games behind a Franklin County squad that is 18-6 overall.
The Lady Jackets finished 12-6 in region play overall and are 17-11 heading into the playoffs. Sonoraville took the top spot in region play this year, followed by second-place LaFayette. Ringgold finished fourth behind the Jackets after their one-game playoff was delayed all week due to rain and was finished up this weekend.
