
Mr. Edward Joseph “Joe” Troy Jr. age 80, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, May 9, 2025.
Joe was born in Atlanta, GA December 1, 1944, a son of the late Edward Joseph Troy, Sr. and the late Naomi Buchan Troy.
He spent his childhood years in South Atlanta and had been a resident of Polk County since 2006.
Mr. Troy was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Coral Sea CV-43. Joe was an avid sports lover and was involved in youth sports over the years. He was a former football coach and was a former commissioner of the youth football program.
One of his greatest enjoyments came in cheering on his grandson, Tyler during his sporting events. Joe was Catholic by faith, and retired from Norfolk Southern after a thirty-three year career with the railroad. Joe was also a member of the Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann “Pat” Troy; and daughter-in-law, LuAnne West.
Joe is survived by his children, Bill West and Lori Hess; grandchildren, David (Kristan) West, Richey West, Brandon (Anna) West, and Tyler (Adrienne) Hess; great-grandchildren, Katie West and Michael West; brother, Jim (Prissy) Troy; sisters, Bonnie (Judd) Levenson and Donna (Fred) Duncan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Troy will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bill West officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local VA in memory of Mr. Troy.
