WEATHER: Rain returning for midweek, chances of wet weather persist

Hope this day of sunshine brought smiles, because the wet weather returns for the midweek forecast and extending into chances for rain over the Mother’s Day weekend, per the National Weather Service outlook ahead for the next several days.

Temperatures will remain on the mild side for May as Peachtree City meteorologists predict that rain is heading this way, with chances of showers prior to 11 a.m. across the area, then rain increasing and the likelihood of a thunderstorm through the midday hours on Wednesday. Expect at least a tenth of an inch of rain coming from stormy weather moving into the region starting with overnight chances of showers.

Rain is expected to stick around through Wednesday night with chances of thunderstorms persisting, and lows down to 59 in some areas. Expect a 60% chance of rain tomorrow.

Highs on Thursday will get up to 80 with chances of rain sticking around 50%, but much of that will be after 11 a.m. as the latest front pushes past, and chances of showers remain overnight as temps dip down to 57 heading into the end of the first full week of May.

By Friday, NWS Peachtree city is expecting rain to continue in an afternoon showers pattern as highs get up to 77 on the day, and down to 55 overnight. Showers are expected Friday night.

More of the same is expected for Saturday and Sunday, with chances of showers sticking around and highs staying mild in the low 70s and down to the upper 50s overnight.

Look for the possibility of rain to kick off the beginning of next week, with a high of 75 and a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms impacting the area.

The long and short of it? Right now any plans for a Mother’s Day picnic to celebrate Mom is probably not in the cards based on the current forecast. Maybe stick with breakfast.

It’ll be midweek next week before rain begins to taper off and a chance to dry out with temps getting into the mid and upper 70s and low 80s by Thursday, but chances for rain will be back on by the end of next week.

Keep those umbrellas handy for now.
