A train that derailed over in the area around Cagle’s Farms and C.W. Matthews in the Rockmart Industrial Park has not caused any damage or injuries, according to city officials.

The derailment on private tracks included 36 cars that overturned and were empty at the time.

Officials have been made aware of the issue and are being dispatched to clean up the overturned rail cars, per Rockmart City Manager Stacey Smith.

The cars overturned on a portion of a rail loop that circles around the large mill and borders Brock Road this morning.
