Storms cause power outage for Lake Creek customers

Restoration time expected by 6 p.m. this evening

Bad news for some folks who live in the Lake Creek area: your power is going to be out for much of the day.

Stormy weather moving through Polk County and the surrounding area last night brought with it large hail reported around the area per Emergency Management Agency Director Bobby Dockery. So far, other than the power outage and the hail reports, no major issues have been noted by the agency this morning.

The power outage impacting the Lake Creek area stretches upward into Floyd County on Reeceberg Road and down to where Lake Creek Road connects to Highway 27 North. A section of Hwy. 27 North from Lake Creek Road through to past Lewis Road is also without power this morning.

In total, Georgia Power’s Outage Map reports that 957 customers are without electricity at the moment.

Dockery said that has additionally impacted water service, since electricity is not available for pumping stations to push water to customers in the area.

Check back for more details as they become available.
