On and off rain through Sunday is going to be followed up by more stormy weather on the way on Monday morning, according to the latest predictions from the National Weather Service forecast from Peachtree City.
Northwest Georgia counties including Bartow, the southern portions of Floyd County, along with Haralson, Paulding and Polk counties are under a Level 3 risk for severe weather as the main line of storms pushing through the Midwest and the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys this afternoon are moving this way overnight.
Peachtree City meteorologists have the storm track moving into North and Central Georgia starting around 5 a.m. and continuing through the morning hours, with more potential scattered and isolated storms impacting the area as it moves out.
These storms all have a higher risk of damaging winds, hail and could spin up tornadoes as they push through the area.
A Level 3 or Enhanced risk of severe weather activity comes just weeks after Polk was under Level 4 risks during a stormy day across the Southeast on March 15.
Already several storm systems have pushed through Northwest Georgia since the beginning of the year posing a risk for damage with high winds and heavy rain.
Check back for more watches and warnings as they become available.
