After weather delay, WELSHFEST returning downtown on Saturday

A sunny day is in store after weather postponed WELSHFest 2025 a week in downtown Rockmart.

Clear skies and temperatures up to 73 are in store for Saturday’s forecast for the return of the event to the South Marble Street area, with a day of fun in store for the whole family to celebrate the Welsh heritage of the Rockmart area.

Welsh immigrants settled in Rockmart during the early booming years of development in the area around the city limits, where a slate quarry offered opportunity for those who came to Van Wert to call it their new home.

Now the opportunity to celebrate that heritage is taking center stage starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Following opening ceremonies, Susan Waters and Ron Cline are taking the stage to perform, followed at noon by the annual Welsh Corgi Show hosted by the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Greater Atlanta.

Once the Corgi show completes, Julie Bell Smith takes the stage at 1 p.m. Look forward to the The Men in Kilts “Bonniest Knees in Rockmart” contest, with the Welly Wanging Contest at 3 p.m. following that. The Eurharlee Creek Bluegrass Band is rounding out this year’s show with a performance at 4 p.m.

The events wraps up at 5 p.m.

WELSHFest has more to offer with vendors, Rockmart History Museum tours, Slate Quarry Tours, church tours and the Tea Room at Rockmart First Methodist Church, and much more.

Check out the WELSHFest website for more information on the full slate of events.
