REPORT: Motorcycle hit 120 mph in Friday chase that ended on Mullen Rd.

Tony Ingram

Polk County Police ultimately caught up with a motorcycle that slid to a stop on gravel to end a chase that at one point saw speeds hit upward of 120 mph early this past Friday morning, according to reports.

Officers took Tony Lee Ingram, 51, of a Rockmart-area address onward to the Polk County Jail after he was medically cleared by EMS on the scene once the high-speed chase concluded on Mullen Road while attempting a right-hand turn.

Police began the chase around 1:30 a.m. when Ingram was spotted driving his motorcycle in the middle of the roadway on Old Cedartown Road near Bethlehem Road, and attempted a stop. Ingram was reported to have then sped off when the blue lights went on, and hit 95 mph on Old Cedartown Road heading eastward.

While on Morgan Valley Road after continuing the chase, Ingram was reported to hit speeds of 120 mph on his motorcycle.

Ingram was handcuffed at gunpoint once he hit the gravel and wrecked the motorcycle while trying to turn on Mullen Road.

A search during his arrest found two small bags of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe.

Ingram was charged with felonies for fleeing or attempting to elude police and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He also faced misdemeanor charges of DUI – drugs less safe, open container violation, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at stop sign, possession and use of drug-related objects and driving while license suspended or revoked.

Ingram remained in custody with bond denied on all charges.
