The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center is getting back to the business of helping those interested in creating have opportunity to express themselves following shutdowns over the spring months due to the pandemic.

Classes are back to a regular schedule during the week, which includes Pottery with Paul Craighead, Drawing and Painting with James Hill and Paint Parties hosted by Merari Morales, among many others.

Additionally, summer workshops have already begun back as well. On June 27, artists have the chance to make a fused glass dish in an event being hosted by Elizabeth Mobley from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There’s a limit of 10 people, and only ages 13 and up are allowed to participate. Beginners are welcome to take part. Those interested can contact Mobley at 770-851-4431.

Mobley is also hosting a July 18 fused glass vase workshop during the same hours. Both workshops are $40 per participant.

RCAC summer camps are also now open for signups, and those who want to take part in Art or Pottery camp can contact 770-684-2707 for more information on how to participate.

Art Camp with Margaret Bearden and Peggy Cline is being held July 13 through July 17 at the RCAC, and offers opportunities for fun in painting, drawing, sculptures and more. Cost is $100 per child. It’s being held 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

The following week running from July 20 through July 24, Pottery camp is being hosted by Craighead from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $95 per youth, and it offers five days of fun with clay.

Craighead’s regular pottery classes are held Tuesday and Wednesday Evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at $18 a class, or Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at $15 a class. He can be contacted at 770-843-5302 for more on participating.
