The Cedartown City Commission held an emergency session alongside a work session to decide whether to let City Manager Bill Fann move forward for an emergency purchase for the wastewater treatment plant.
Commissioners voted to give Fann that authority after he explained that the clarifier at Cedartown’s Wastewater Treatment plant broke, one of two of the devices needed to send water back into Cedar Creek cleanly.
Fann said that an exact cost for replacement isn’t yet known, and with the authority to negotiate it is hoped that contractors will be able to bring the price down for part and installation.
The city manager said that it was his hope to get repairs completed as soon as possible in order to maintain reliable service for the plant.
Commissioners also held a work session to discuss a study being completed that pertains to wastewater treatment, along with a discussion over a name being forwarded to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and providing the city’s support for the decision.
