WEATHER: Cloudy skies with rain chances returning overnight, high today 54

Rain is set to return, but not before Polk County can spend some time celebrating the holidays and a few visits from Santa for this weekend’s forecast.

Look for partly sunny skies today with a high near 54, but winds are going to be an issue with gusts as high as 25 mph for those who are going to be outdoors during the daytime. Rain should hold off over Polk County until later tonight as chances of showers are expected after 11 p.m. – and holding at 50% of the last update from the meteorologists in Peachtree City.

Temps are down to 42 overnight and winds are predicted to be the same as today – 5 to 10 mph sustained, and up to 25 mph gusts.

Wet weather is likely to extend into Sunday with 50% chances of rain remaining in the forecast, and a high of 53. Winds will likely remain the same as Saturday. Lesser chances of rain are predicted overnight dropping down to 30%, with a low of 43.

Look for cloudy skies to start the coming week with a high of 65, down to 51 overnight and a 60% chance of showers.

Potential rain lingers into Tuesday just afternoon, with hugs of 65 and a 30% chance of showers.

Rain chances will hang around through all of next week heading into Thursday night, when a slight chance of showers is in the forecast and a low of 29 with a coming cooling in store just ahead of the official start of the winter season.

Sunshine and a high of 51 is predicted for next Friday.
