Homecoming is Happening: PSD announces Rockmart celebrations on for tonight

The passing of Hurricane Helene (well, Tropical Storm Helene again at this point) means some additional good news for tonight’s schedule: Homecoming is still on for Rockmart High School.

The District announced around 11 a.m. that with weather moving out of the area, festivities for Homecoming are back on schedule for tonight during the halftime of the Sonoraville-Rockmart football game.

Other home events for PSD are also back on as well, per the announcement.

Here’s what PSD posted:

We hope all of our Polk School District families safely weathered Tropical Storm Helene. Based on the current forecast, we will continue with our regularly scheduled home events this evening, including Rockmart’s Homecoming activities. Please refer to your student’s school/coach for information related to events scheduled outside of our district. We thank you for your continued patience and partnership.

The District shuttered campuses on Thursday and today ahead of Hurricane Helene’s impact on the state in anticipation of larger issues caused by severe weather. Students have their second Learn from Home day today.

Campuses will be back open on Tuesday for regular business for the final school days before Fall Break.
