The Polk County Board of Elections wants voters to know what is going on locally with the vote count, assuring everyone in a summary of what’s happened with their ballot this time around as a few Georgia counties continue to finish up their counts.
Here’s as posting for the Board of Elections Facebook page explaining what is happening:
We have had a lot of questions regarding votes being counted. Hopefully this brief summary will help!
If you vote by absentee:
- Your ballot was scanned and counted Election Night.
- If you received correspondence from our office regarding acceptance issues, they must be resolved by 5pm Friday!
- If you are unsure, please feel free to call the office!
If you voted during Early Voting (in person ONLY!):
- Your vote is considered absentee as it was cast “early”
- Your vote was recorded by the ballot scanner that you placed your paper ballot in before leaving the polling location.
- These totals were not tabulated until after 7 p.m. on Election DayIn Person Election Day:
- Your vote was recorded on the scanner also!
If you voted in person and placed your paper ballot in the scanner, your vote has been counted, rest assured! The scanner stores ballot images and counts on two memory cards.
Those are what we use to calculate totals. Your paper ballot remains locked and secured as a back up!
We had zero scanner issues, and we were able to successfully retrieve all totals from the memory cards contained!
If you received any correspondence from interest groups or political parties indicating your vote was not counted during absentee or early voting, please feel free to call and verify! We want to assure our Polk County Voters that we wish to uphold ethical and transparent elections for all voters, and will continue to provide access to this information should you wish to follow up!
