The Rockmart Yellow Jackets kept their undefeated streak alive for 12 big games throughout the first half of the season, but a trip up north to Fannin County finally found someone able to find a way to sting the home squad.

Rockmart sits at 13-1 following two holiday tourney wins during the Christmas break, including a big one over Cedartown in the annual Hilburn-Patterson Invitational. That 80-60 victory over the Bulldogs might be a preview for the regular season non-conference games coming up this weekend between the two rivals, but it wasn’t the Dawgs who snapped the streak.

Fannin County in a region victory took a three pointer on January 5 over Rockmart in their return to the court after an in-season break after the holiday tourney win. The 69-66 win capped their streak at 12, but they bounced right back in non-region play against Cartersville in a 95-89 victory.

Treylin Davis remains the leader on the court, still sitting at more than 25 points per game average and sitting on a total of 356 points on the season (based on what’s currently available.) Davis has 105 defensive rebounds and 44 assists, plus 27 steals on the season through 14 games on the year.

There are 11 games left for the team to still come out on top in both the region and to cap the regular season with a huge run. There’s still a forthcoming showdown on the road at North Murray tonight, a homestand against Model on Friday, a trip to Cedartown on Saturday and then runs through region and non-region matchups to round out the rest of the schedule.
