The Rockmart Lady Jackets remain undefeated after they swept up Model in a shutout on Tuesday evening, just ahead of the rain.
Rockmart put up a 5-0 lead through the Top of the 6th, and then went ahead in the sixth to close out the game early on run rules when a offensive rally drove home four runs.
Emma Scott sitting on first got over to third on a slide thanks to a Zori Williams double, and then the hits started flowing as Analee Morris got one over through Model’s defense and scored Scott and Williams.
Bri Davis turned out to be the last minute hero of the day.
She knocked a solid base hit into left and got around the bases before Cheyenne Jordan could make it in as Morris coming in on a slide, and a bad throw giving Davis the chance to close the game with an extra run.
The squad now heads the region at 4-0, with Haralson in second (with a shutout loss to Rockmart) and Murray County in third, with the loss dropping the Lady Blue Devils to fourth place.
North Murray, Fannin and Gordon Central round out the rest of the region standings at 1-3, 0-2 and 0-3.
The Lady Jackets are back on the road on Thursday at Fannin County to continue region play, and a Friday start to tournament play over the weekend with LaGrange, Woodland, Haralson and Carrollton on the schedule.
