Cedartown Recreation announces new Challenger league

The Cedartown Recreation Department announced a new program on Tuesday that will begin in 2022.

Cedartown’s Recreation Director Jeff Hulsey made an announcement about the formation fo the new Challenger league that is specifically for youth with special needs.

“Here at the Cedartown Recreation Department, we want all children to have the same opportunity,” Hulsey said.

The league will begin in 2022 and is looking to try to start with baseball as the first sport in the Challenger league. These are some of the details that Hulsey hopes to work out with those families who want to participate, and anyone willing to volunteer their time to help.

The first meeting for organizing the new league will be held on Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bert Wood Youth and Athletic Center at 605 Lynton Drive in Cedartown for those who want to participate and volunteer. Volunteers will have to pass a background check to be involved in the Recreation Department.
