
A woman was charged and taken to jail out of the back of an ambulance that pulled over during her transport after she is accused of striking one of the EMTs, according to reports.
PCPD arrested Kayla Deanne Sorrells, 34, of a Cedartown-area address, after she was found in front of a Watts Road address in the middle of the road on Tuesday afternoon, June 25.
Police came upon her and reported that “(she) appeared to be in an intoxicated state.”
EMS arrived and she wanted to go to the hospital, so AdventHealth Redmond EMS took her onward to Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center for further evaluation.
The ambulance then asked for police to come back for help when they were at the intersection of Highway 27 and East Point Road. Per the report, EMS personnel were holding Sorrells down and when asked they reported that Sorrells punched one of the EMTs in the face.
Sorrells was put in handcuffs and took her onward to the Polk County Jail without further incident.
She was charged with a felony for obstruction of EMT and two misdemeanor counts of the same charge.
Sorrells remained in custody as of this posting on a $7,000 bond on the felony and misdemeanor charges.
