A replacement bridge in the works since last year continues on Highway 101 coming into Rockmart and the intersection with Highway 278 is nearing completion.
Some work remains to be done on the shift in the lanes around the new bridge over the tributary of Euharlee Creek that was approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation in 2022.

The bridge replacement was part of a larger project of resurfacing the route of North Piedmont Avenue, East Elm Street and South Marble Street in 2023. The whole of the route was resurfaced south of the intersection with Highway 278 last year, and continues northward past Brock Road the to the industrial park.
The $1.8 million construction project for the bridge should be completed by summer’s end. The former bridge was first built in 1938, then was rebuilt in 1983. The span was only 40 years old when inspectors last year found cracks on the road surface of the structure.
