The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs are still sitting in a third place spot in Region 7-AAAA softball with the chance to stay there as they have just four more regular season games on the schedule, and three of those are against Northwest Whitfield.

Getting to their 15-10 record in recent days saw the Lady Bulldogs take a pair of tough losses at home and on the road. The first of those came against Cartersville at home following-up with the Lady Purple Hurricanes after a season-opening win on the road to help get the Lady Bulldogs rolling.

The 5-4 loss came at the hands of a Lady Hurricanes offense that put up all five of their runs in the first inning, and gave Cedartown a chance to recover in the bottom half of the first with two runs, and two more in the sixth before the Lady Bulldogs were shutdown late in the game. This game off an 8-hit performance for Cedartown, who only gave up an error on the day to Cartersville.

After evening the win-loss column with Cartersville this past weekend, the Lady Bulldogs took to the road to try and get one back against Bremen after an early-season loss.

The Lady Bulldogs instead found the offense stymied by a Bremen squad that put up 10 runs on Cedartown, who only managed to score a run.

Cedartown remains in third place behind a strong first place Heritage team that is 12-0 in the region and 18-4 overall in the state, and a 10-2 Central team in second that is 14-5 overall.

The good news for the Lady Bulldogs is they control their destiny with Haralson County left on the schedule in non-region play, and a three-game stand against Northwest Whitfield who sits in fourth place at 5-6 in region play, and 11-11 overall.

Haralson hosts Cedartown on Saturday at 2 p.m., and the Lady Bulldogs head to Northwest Whitfield for a double header against the Lady Bruins starting at 5 p.m. on October 6 at Tunnel Hill, and play the final regular season game at 5:30 p.m. at home to round out the three-game region series.
