SOFTBALL: Lady Jackets continue on stellar course toward region dominance

With more region games ahead before the regular season comes to a close for the Rockmart Lady Jackets, their 13-5 record (8-3 in 6-AAA) gives them opportunity aplenty to end up in the top spot of the region ranks.

Just two games behind Sonoraville with teams lagging behind in region play ahead, the Jackets have a chance to run the table heading into the final stretch of the regular season and pick up a one or two seed heading into the playoffs.

The Lady Jackets are on a five-game winning streak before their Thursday game they were supposed to play was postponed for weather against Coahulla Creek, but they’ve got a Monday home game against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe ahead, then host LaFayette on Tuesday and Ringgold on October 5 following that before they have one more game on the schedule against LFO on the road.

Rockmart will also have to make-up against Coahulla Creek before the season wraps up.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Jackets took a 9-1 win over Bremen at home then finished off LaFayette on the road on Tuesday 9-1 as well.

Rockmart won out in the only game with Cedartown back on Sept. 12, and followed that up with a win over Ringgold and Adairsville in region play in past outings as well.

Their last loss came on Sept. 10 to Sonoraville, who heads the region currently.
