SOFTBALL: Lady Dawgs on track with solid start to season

Cedartown moves to 6-2 with Monday win over Cass

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs are on a roll. Despite some trouble with a region foe who took a two game sweep over the Lady Dawgs on the road, they maintain a winning record and are already positioned well in the region for a title.

If they can continue to dominate on the softball diamond and keep their cool heading deeper into the fall season.

Cedartown sits at 6-2 overall following opening wins in region play over Southeast Whitfield, Woodland Cartersville, Hiram and Cass. The Lady Dawgs swept through Hiram with double digit wins and on Monday night pulled a 7-2 victory over the Lady Colonel who came to town for the first of three in their series.

The only mar against their record currently is a 2-game sweep by the Lady Buccaneers over in Allatoona last Thursday night.

Cedartown fell 4-3 in game 1, and fought to an 11-9 loss in game 2. The Lady Dawgs have a chance to get one back over the Lady Buccaneers later this season on their home turf to round out the region series between the squads on Sept. 5.

Cedartown has busy days ahead of on the diamond, heading to Dalton and Cartersville before week’s end. Weekend tournament play has the squad in action against Mt. Zion Carroll and Haralson County, before picking up one more non-region competition before picking back up in region play to cap off the month next week against Southeast Whitfield and Woodland.
