Reports: Police jail three in separate incidents for drug possession

Three different incidents over the weekend saw people charged with meth possession after being stopped by Polk County Police officers, per reports filed over the holiday weekend.

The arrests began early Sunday morning in Rockmart after a suspect was pulled over at a Piedmont Avenue convenience store at midnight on February 19 in a blue Dodge Durango with a busted tag light.

John Wesley Cash, 54, of a Rockmart address, was about to get a warning when police called for backup from a Rockmart Police K-9 unit to give the vehicle a sniff. When the officer asked to search Cash, he admitted to having meth in one of his pockets.

He was taken into custody without further incident and booked on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. Cash remained in jail as of this posting without bond set.

The arrests continued later in the day.

On Sunday, February 19, Polk County Police were patrolling on South College Street when they spotted Bryan Ray Folsom, 50, of Cedartown, was standing in front of Tobacco Mart and stopped to talk to him. Police were aware at the time that Folsom had warrants for his arrest.

Per the report, they took him into custody. While he was being arrested, police spotted two baggies on the ground and believed to have methamphetamine inside. He was booked into the Polk County Jail on warrants and and the felony possession of methamphetamine, a possession of methamphetamine with intent charge, tampering with evidence and a failure to appear warrant. He also was charged with a misdemeanor for abandonment of dangerous drugs.

He remained in jail without bond set as of this posting.




It wasn’t but a few hours later on Monday morning when officers got another bust.

Dustin Ray Proctor, 36, of a Cedartown address, was stopped on Monday, February 20 around 12:20 a.m. and jailed afterward by Polk County Police. He was spotted driving a green SUV and turned into his residence on Brook Street when police stopped him.

They found his tag was suspended and the SUV had no insurance.

When questioned, he admitted having methamphetamine in his pocket and gave it over to officers without incident. He was taken into custody and booked on misdemeanors for driving while license suspended or revoked, no insurance, suspended registration and a felony possession of methamphetamine.

Proctor remained behind bars without bond set as of this posting.
