Rockmart’s girls put up a big night in their season opener at The Rock, grabbing a 30 point victory over the Chattooga Lady Indians on Tuesday.
The 61-31 victory came as Rockmart took a big lead into halftime and built on it thanks to the 18-point game put up by Sky Myers and the 16-pointer from Analee Morris. Kyla Marcos also hit double digits with a 10-point performance on the night.
The two seniors along with the rest of the squad scrapped and stole the ball time and again with a Lady Indians team that went into the half down 29-14. They added another 17 points through the second half while Rockmart went on a 31 point tear for the victory.
The Lady Jackets were supposed to open their season last week on November 21, but the game against the Mt. Zion-Carroll Lady Eagles was called off and was ultimately rescheduled for Monday night.
The Lady Eagles fell in a 66-14 that saw Rockmart outscore the Lady Eagles (at least according to the Maxpreps stats found here) in a 23-2 run in the first quarter alone, and then kept up the pressure. The Lady Eagles had their highest scoring quarter in the final minutes with just five points on the night. Morris went for 17 points on the night, and Myers picked up 13.
Rockmart now at 2-0 gets back to work at home on Thursday against Bowdon.
