Multiple committee appointments for Majority Caucus Chair
State Senator Jason Anavitarte is going to be busy for the rest of the 40 days of the 2023 session following his appointment to nine different committees in the upper chamber of the state legislature this year.
After he was appointed the Majority Caucus Chair following the 2022 Election (he ran unopposed,) the North Paulding Republican enters his second term with a Vice Chairmanship of the Committee overseeing Natural Resources and the Environment.
He’s also a member of the appropriations, ethics, finance, reapportionment and redistricting, and transportation committees, and is an ex-oficio member of the government oversight, rules and veterans, military, and homeland security committees.
“I want to thank Lt. Governor Burt Jones and the Committee on Assignments for their diligent efforts and all of the hard work that went into the committee assignment process,” said Sen. Anavitarte in a statement released today. “This legislative session is sure to be a historic one as we have new leaders in both the House and Senate. I look forward to working alongside my Senate colleagues in these committees and as Majority Caucus Chair to ensure we continue to uphold the standard as the best state in the nation to live, work, and raise a family.”
Anavitarte enters his second term in the 31st District as one of the major leaders of the party in the Legislature’s upper chamber.
He won the seat in 2020 before redistricting when the district also covered Haralson, Polk and western Paulding County. The 31st is now just Polk and a majority of Paulding counties.
