No one seems to be able to stop the Rockmart Lady Jackets on the softball diamond this season in region play at they continue to dominate with a pair of wins to open the week.
After a 10-1 victory over Murray County at home on Monday, the Lady Jackets traveled on Tuesday to face North Murray and closed them out 9-1 before coming back home after fishing off the Lady Mountaineers in five innings after scoring most of their runs in the first and second innings.
Zori Williams went 2 for 2 at the plate, with a pair of triples that knocked in three RBIs. She scored on both of her times at-bat as well. Emma Scott also went 2-for-2 at the plate, knocking a single and a double for 2 RBIs and scoring twice herself.
Cheyenne Johnson’s 3-for-4 at the plate saw her put up two hits that allowed for her to score three runs during the game after getting on base.
That puts Rockmart at 18-1 overall, and first in region with a 7-0 run so far. The only team a game behind is the Haralson County Lady Rebels, who sit at 6-1 with their only loss to the Lady Jackets.
Rockmart is in the right spot to continue onward toward a first-place spot from Region 7-AA heading into the playoffs as they remain undefeated.
On a one-day break, they have a chance to continue that domination coming up on Thursday. Haralson is coming to play the Lady Jackets on their home turf at 5 p.m. They’ll get the weekend off before having to face a run next week against Gordon Central, Pepperell and Model in back-to-back trips between September 26 through September 28.
They round out the region and a non-region competition during the first week of October.
