Garrett Edward Cole Moore, 30, of 96 Southern Chase Way, Rockmart, remained in jail on a felony drug charge and multiple misdemeanor traffic and drug charges as well after he was taken to the Polk County Jail on Saturday, August 13.

Police pulled him over after getting reports of a potentially intoxicated driver on the roadway who was weaving on Highway 278 without taillights, and he was pulled over in the parking lot of Triangle Foods by Polk County Police.

Moore, per reports, had “almost fallen when getting out his vehicle” and was believed to be under the influence of some kind of substance and PCPD explained what was going on to Rockmart officers who arrived on the scene shortly after.

Reports added that Moore told police he was simply tired for the reason for his erratic driving behavior. When Rockmart officers approached him in the Triangle parking lot, he was on the phone and “speaking rapidly and slouched” on a patrol vehicle.

When questioned further, Moore told police he took a Benadryl earlier in the day, but they still gave him a field sobriety test which he failed.

Moore was detained, and his vehicle was searched where officers found a clue to what he might have taken. Police located two straws with methamphetamine, and two syringes as well.

When taken to the Polk County Jail and consenting to have his blood taken, police noted that Moore had many of the signs of intravenous drug use including track marks. In fact, officials brought in to draw his blood could only get a single vial as a sample because of his drug use.

Moore remained in custody as of this posting on a $9,000 bond on a single felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was also charged with misdemeanors including driving under the influence of drugs, failure to maintain lane, no insurance, lighted headlights/other lights required and possession and use of drug-related objects.
