A small amount of Polk County’s voters who participated in the May 24 primary are being called back to take part in polling again to determine several statewide races that ended with run-offs.
One week of early voting starts on Monday, June 13 and continues through Friday, June 17 during regular business hours at the Board of Elections office in Cedartown and the Nathan Dean Community Center in Rockmart for the upcoming Primary Run-off for Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Insurance Commissioner and Labor Commissioner on the Democratic ballot.
Those here in Polk County who took part in the Democratic primary will be asked to come back – less than 1,000 people – to vote again ahead of the June 21 primary run-off day.
Elections Director Noah Beck reported during the Wednesday Board of Elections meeting that they will have every polling place open for voters but that a very low turnout is expected for this round of voting.
Voters came out during early voting in record numbers in Polk County for the May 24 primary, but the majority of them took part by casting a GOP ballot.
The run-off vote for Democratic candidates statewide include a race between Charlie Bailey and Kwanza Hall for Lieutenant Governor, a race between State Rep. William Boddie and Nicole Horn for labor commissioner, Been Nguyen and Dee Dawkins-Haigler face off in the Secretary of State’s race, and voters have to decide between Raphael Baker or Janice Laws Robinson for the Insurance Commissioner race.
Non-partisan voters can also technically take part in this run-off election as well.
No local issues are on this round of balloting.
