CHS Volleyball opens season with scrimmage later this month

Lady Dawgs heading to Woodland to scrimmage on July 22, at Rockmart on August 3

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs volleyball team will be back in action later this month to start their fall season, though their first two matches won’t count against them.

Woodland will host the Lady Bulldogs varsity squad with time to be announced on Saturday, July 22. They’ll follow that up on Thursday, August 3 with a match against Rockmart (both JV and Varsity) set for 5 p.m. for a second scrimmage before the official start of the season.

August 8 marks the date when the Lady Dawgs get a chance to spike their opponents on the court. They’ve got Cass and Temple at Temple on the Tuesday just over a month away to open the season. Junior varsity players get to face off on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Rockmart JV Invitational, while the varsity squad is headed to Armuchee the same day for the Battle of the Counties.

The Rockmart Varsity Invitational is set for Aug. 19.

Cedartown doesn’t get to host home matches until Aug. 22. They’ll also host their first region match against Southeast Whitfield as they also host Model for area play. Two days later they host Temple and Pepperell on Aug. 24, and then head to face off against several teams at the Coosa Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Region matchups against Northwest and Sonoraville follow on Aug. 29. The month ends with matches on Aug. 31 against Coosa and Haralson County at home.

After the Labor Day break, the Sept. 5 matches at Cass against Darlington and the Lady Colonels. Then on Sept. 7, the Lady Bulldogs head to Model to face off against the Lady Blue Devils again with Unity Christian School also part of a round robin evening.

Heritage and Northwest are next up at home on Tuesday, Sept. 12 for region matches. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Central to face the Lady Generals and the Lady Lions for region play on Sept. 19. The following Thursday, Sept. 21, Woodland and Paulding County come to Cedartown for non-region play.

Sonoraville and Central follow on Sept. 26, Coosa hosts the Lady Bulldogs again on Sept. 28.

The final matches of the regular season come in October, as Southeast Whitfield host the Lady Bulldogs and Chattooga on Oct. 3. Senior night is being celebrated on the following night at home with South Paulding and Rockmart coming to play against the Lady Bulldogs to round off the regular season.

Area tournament play is scheduled for Oct. 10, Oct. 12 and Oct. 14.
