AREA ARREST: Police track down stolen orange Chevy Blazer, chase ensues that ends with one jailed

Another chase in Haralson County over the weekend ended with an arrest and the return of a stolen vehicle, according to a Sheriff’s Office posting today.

The Sunday incident saw Michael Joseph Albright, 27, of 316 Lakeview Drive, Bremen, taken into custody after a chase and charged with felony and misdemeanors for the theft of the Blazer.

On Sunday, May 1, 2022, patrol deputies received an alert on a stolen orange Chevrolet Blazer out of Douglas County. A short while later, Sgt. Jarred Taylor observed a Chevrolet Blazer matching the photo in the alert at Corinth Quick Stop on Highway 120.

When Sgt. Taylor pulled in and activated his lights, a male jumped into the Blazer and took off. The chase went down multiple roads including Corinth Poseyville, Waddell, Mabry, Cashtown and J Wade.

The pursuit ended on J Wade Road when driver of the stolen Blazer went into a ditch and the Blazer became disabled. The driver, now identified as Michael Joseph Albright, 27 years old out of Bremen, Georgia, then jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

Deputy Terry McAdams pursued Albright on foot and caught up to him. After a brief struggle, Albright was taken into custody. Albright is currently facing charges for Fleeing and Attempting to Elude (Felony), Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and VGCSA (Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.

“Sgt. Taylor’s alertness on patrol got another criminal off the street and returned someone’s stolen property to them. I am very proud of the way these deputies are stepping up to make our communities safer for our citizens,” states Sheriff Stacy Williams.

Per the Haralson County Jail, Albright remained in jail on felony charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. He was also being held on misdemeanor charges of failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving and speeding in excess of maximum limits.
