A Rockmart man remained in jail with bond denied after he was arrested on several charges including armed robbery for taking under $1,000 in two robberies at the West Elm Street Marathon gas station just days apart, according to police.

Rockmart Police Department Detective David Gowens reported that Kerry Lee Adams, 56, of 840 Fairview Road, Apartment 9, Rockmart, was taken into custody on Thursday after witnesses and video evidence from the store provided him with the proof he needed to take warrants out against Adams.

Gowens said that Adams is accused of a March 2 and March 6 armed robbery of the gas station that took place in the early hours each time.

“We were able through video evidence to determine it was the same guy both times,” Det. Gowens said.

Adams is alleged to have used a handgun in both robberies, getting away on March 1 with $521 and on March 6 another $145.

In total, Adams is reported to have taken $666.

He was booked on Thursday morning, March 10 on felony charges which included two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Adams remained in the Polk County Jail without bond.
