Inaugural 5K Race, Duck Race just some of the highlights of this weekend’s event

Organizers of the Silver Comet Festival have lined up a great late fall event in downtown Rockmart, with hopes that the community will come out and support the Rotary Club of Polk County’s mission to help local youth during fundraising races on Saturday, November 27.
Dozens of vendors will be on hand, food trucks and the Silver Comet Fest’s first-ever 5K race at 9 a.m. to bring the holidays back home to downtown Rockmart during the event, which will kick off with live music as well from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Registration is still open for the race and those who want to run in the Home for the Holidays 5K Run/Walk, and can still do so before having to report to the starting line at 8 a.m.
The Silver Comet Fest will also feature the Rotary Duck Race – with prizes available for those who purchase raffle tickets before 2 p.m. – including cash prizes for the first, second and last duck in. Rubber duckies will be dumped into Euharlee Creek at Seaborn Jones Park during the afternoon.
Tickets for the Duck Race are 1 for $5 for 5 for $20. All proceeds go to benefit scholarship funds for youth at Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools.
In between the two races, six different food trucks will be serving food, cornhole boards will be set up, bounce houses will be available for youth and Ballet Garden will be performing, followed by Isaac Streetman and then Them Mixon Boys.
A whole bunch of local artisans will be providing items for sale for the holidays as well, including Tacohime One of A Kind, David’s Crafts, Hill Country Creations, Teal’s Floral Creations, Hatching Harper Handicrafts, Cotton Candles, Kevinz Kustoms, Claymade, Screen Printing on Main, Gems & Jewels, Lunar Mystic Creations, Al’s Small Town Creations, Cralye Crace Scentsy, Wisteria Creek, Myra Stephenson, Limb of Love, Zen Zaia Candles, Kelly’s Knicknacks, Becoming BeYOUtiful, Georgia Moon Creations, Don’s Chimes, Mayo Sales (wreaths and other decor gifts,) Cotton Splinters, and some additional organizations as well.
