
A Marietta woman who was stopped by Polk County Police early Sunday morning was found with methamphetamine in her car, and then was found by jail staff with paraphernalia while being searched, according to reports.
Polk County Police arrested Brooke Michelle Beechuk, 31, of 825 Powder Springs Road, Apt. 1201, Marietta, on felony and misdemeanor charges after she was stopped by officers for an expired registration and defective tail light lens at the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and Goodyear Avenue in Rockmart.
Police were going to stop short at writing Beechuk a citation and letting her go about her business during the 1:50 a.m. stop, but she consented to a search of her vehicle.
Officers reported that while searching her car, they found a plastic container of suspected methamphetamine. She was taken into custody and taken to the Polk County Jail without further incident.
After arriving at the jail, officials there searched her and found that she was trying to smuggle in a syringe and a glass smoking pipe.
Both were taken up, and charges were added accordingly.
Beechuk remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting with no bond yet set.
She was charged with felonies for possession of methamphetamine, and crossing state/county guard line with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent. She also faces misdemeanor charges of improper registration of vehicle, tag lights required and possession and use of drug-related objects.
