City of Cedartown front offices closed to the public for COVID-19 for a week

Employee sickness and exposure causing staffing issues, cleaning needed to keep public safe

The City of Cedartown will be closing its front offices for the week after several COVID-19 cases within city hall have forced officials to shut down for cleaning and lack of staffing to help with administrative duties and customer support.

The city announced the closure this morning, which will continue through Sept. 13. It should have no immediate impact on plans for the upcoming September City Commission meeting planned Sept. 13.

Four staff members have been exposed or are sick with COVID-19 at the moment. Staff members who are available will take or return calls in a normal matter.

Water customers who need to pay their bill can still utilized the drive-up window at city hall, or can go online to pay a bill at cedartowngeorgia.gov/online-bill-pay/.

This is the second time since the COVID-19 pandemic began the city has been forced to close its doors amid widespread transmission of the virus.

No interruption in any other city functions, like code enforcement, police, fire, public safety and recreation is planned at this time.

Check back for any additional updates as they become available.
