Cities set to host events starting on Friday evening, continuing through the weekend
While some Atlanta-area Independence Day celebrations in Georgia are cancelled this year due to COVID related restrictions, there are still plenty of fun fireworks celebrations around the state to attend. Check below for some wild out-of-town blasts for the whole family, and places closer to home as well.
First, you might want to consider local celebrations as well for those of us who are in town this holiday.
In Rome, the First Friday concert downtown on Broad Street featuring a night full of live music and celebration for the July 2 event coming up. Downtown businesses are participating in open container beverages for the evening; no outside coolers or drinks allowed.
Free parking is available at multiple parking decks around Broad Street.
Enjoy a full day of family fun a the Cave Spring Parade and Fireworks Festival at Rolater Park on July 4 starting with a morning parade, car show, live music, and arts and crafts, culminating in celebratory fireworks show starting at 9 p.m.
Join up with your friends and family at Ridge Ferry Park for an unforgettable and free fireworks show featuring 1,500 fireworks of all types being shot off on Independence Day. The park will also host family games and live music for the event. Entrance to the park is free.
The parking fee is $5 per vehicle and the gates open at 3 p.m.
Cartersville will host their fireworks following a July 3 parade starting at 9 a.m., and a full day of festivities at Dellinger Park on Sunday, July 4. The event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Etowah. (More info remains in the link.)
In Villa Rica, a fireworks show is being held this Saturday. The July 3 event starts at 5 p.m. at the Villa Rica Civic Center & Sports Complex. This free event will see the fireworks start at 9:30 p.m., and a concert before featuring Common Rarity and headliner Monsters of Yacht.
Other fun to be had during the event includes Other event attractions include helicopter rides for $30.00 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Rockwall $5.00, carnival bungee jumping $8.00, carnival water rollers $8.00, hang for 100.00 sec. $10.00, duck pond $5.00 – $10.00, caricature artist, face painting, and inflatable slides are available from 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Ticket prices for these activities range by vendor from $10 – $20.00. Food sales include: Moe’s, Chips & Queso $5.00, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade’s $3.00 – $7.00, Angus Cheeseburgers $7.00, Chicago Style Polishes $6.00, and Shaved Ice $3.00 – $6.00.
Carrollton is also holding their Independence Day parade on July 3 starting at 10 a.m., and the Carroll Symphony caps off Fourth of July celebrations with friends and families on the grounds of the Carrollton City Schools this year on July 4.
The 2021 “Sounds of Liberty” concert begins at 8:30 p.m. and builds to a thrilling fireworks display accompanied by the sounds of everyone’s favorite patriotic melodies. Those interested can gather on the lawn of Carrollton Elementary School. 2021 will be the 18th year for the CSO to perform at The Sounds of Liberty.
Further away from home, there’s plenty of events to consider as well.
Callaway Gardens is hosting an all-weekend beach party for guests which includes three days of food and fun in the sun with your family. They host a nightly “Fireworks Extravaganza” for their official tribute to the summer season.

There’s also the chance to celebrate with the Atlanta Braves this year! The Braves are going against the Miami Marlins at Truist Park for the weekend and are showcasing a Friday night fireworks display after the evening game on July 2.
In addition, the first 40,000 people through the gates for the afternoon game on July 3 will receive a Braves tote bag, and on Independence Day the first 3,000 kids 14 and under through the gates for the afternoon game will get a mini Ronald Acuna Jr. bobblehead. Head to River Street in Savannah this weekend to see the Freedom Floats Boat Parade and enjoy lots of food, music, and festivities before the grand fireworks show over the river around 9 p.m. Check out https://savannahswaterfront.com/independence-day/ for more information on the event.
